Packaging Design: Easy Grow Seeds
Project: With the goal of reducing or eliminating packaging waste, I designed perforated flower and veggie seed packets. Seeds are ready to be individually torn from grid and planted directly into the soil. The entire package is biodegradable, including the plant-based label with bar code and planting instructions. Beyond achieving zero-waste, these seed packets function better compared to traditional envelope-style seed packs. By only tearing off the number of seeds needed for planting, the remaining seeds are not spoiled by unintended exposure to moisture or light while being stored for later planting.

Moon Rooster Food Truck
Project: In this speculative assignment for my Environmental Graphic Design class, I selected a local food truck vendor as my "client." I created a rebrand with a distinctive, quirky personality for this mobile restaurant, complete with supergraphics, schematics for queue and point of sale, and full menu board.

Community Garden Interactive Signage
Project: Partnering with the Westbury Community Garden, I compiled bilingual online content for five hot-season vegetables, which explains how to plant and cook with these varieties. Then, I created sign stakes to label these vegetables throughout the garden. Users can scan either the English or Spanish versions to access the web content.

Turn Up the Volume
Project: Using the metaphor of a sound equalizer, I created an ad campaign to amplify more #ownvoices in children's books. The green, orange, pink, and blue marks represent the 9% of children's books created by people of color (Cooperative Children's Book Center, 2017). These books make up a fraction of the 3,700 total children's books published (gray marks in the background symbolize those created by white authors/illustrators). The contrast gives a visual argument for the need to "turn up the volume" so young readers can listen to storytellers from more diverse backgrounds.

Typography: USPS Stamps
Project: I created a book of postage stamps to celebrate an American typographer/type designer, Dan Rhatigan. Rhatigan famously uses his own skin to display typographic compositions. The stamps I designed feature some of these tattoo letterforms. The sheet of stamps comes enclosed in a transparent envelope/sleeve that serves a dual function as temporary tattoos for experimentation.

Project: To compare and contrast German and American typographers, I chose Rudolf Koch’s writing rugs from the mid-1920s and Gina Adams’ “Broken Treaty Quilts” from 2015, presented in the form of a tête-bêche book.

Packaging: Baby's First Beach Trip
Project: Six individually-wrapped products are combined into a beach-themed gift set, thus reducing packaging waste and improving functionality. A double-sided tag is efficient as one side is displayed at the point of purchase and then can be reversed to be a gift tag imprinted with “To” and “From.”

Project: This album design features a volvelle mechanism that interlaces the religious art of Arabic zellige tilework and the rose windows of Parisian cathedrals. Similar to the turning of a kaleidoscope, the volvelle engages the user with patterns representing the complex cultural identities of the French-Moroccan recording duo, La Caution.

Project: To interpret a song through typography, I carved driftwood with lyrics from James Bay’s “Hold Back the River” and left the six pieces to be lost (or found) along the San Marcos River. This exercise in abandoning the pieces was meant to emphasize the song’s references to the temporal quality of life.

Project: How do you create a clear sequence for users to place an online order? For this project, I designed a responsive e-commerce website to promote the sale of a children’s cookbook. Step by step, the checkout process reinforces a friendly brand with bright colors and key words like “sweet” and “cheers” to play off of the lemonade theme.
